Title: 1967 engine options
Post by: preaction on March 28, 2018, 08:00:38 PM
I found this in a Ford ready reference catalog sort of like a shop manual with part numbers produced by Ford. Notice engine codes D and L.

The SOHC VIN engine codes are listed in the 1967 Ford Full Size Shop Manual too. We came so close to having Cammers factory installed apparently lol. I think Jay made note of that in one of his SOHC engine build articles.

All my old books show that also.  Ford geared up to do a lot of things then didn't at the last minute.  In a little scrap yard not far from here, someone found a complete 1971 Boss 302 stripe kit for a Mustang.  No 71 Bosses built and how did that one (so far) kit end up in some bitty off highway scrap yard near Rosco Texas???

Chris , "one" '71 was built , check the Boss 302 web site. Fully documented AND the engine was pulled and the car's engine code was changed ( by Ford) before it was sold ( for the first time) here in So Cal. Interesting story. Ford sold the "pre production" parts build up parts ( blocks , heads , intakes , carbs , stripes , etc) through the Master Parts Catalog.
