We have started to receive some boxes of these filters so I figured it's time to show everyone what we've been working on. At the PRI show in December we ran across a guy making air filters for the Hemi guys. Almost walked past him but the thought crossed my mind, maybe he can make the Galaxie ones everyone has been needing. We sent him a correct R-code air filter, he priced it up, and the price was reasonable enough to move forward.
We also had him make a 3" tall version because the only 3" tall oval filter we can find right now is a K&N.
To make purchasing/shipping easier, we have been setting up a website. Honestly that part of the operation has been much more work than getting the filters made. The site should be set up by the end of the month. I'll let everyone know when we get that live and we can start selling/distributing these things.

3" fit on flat hood cars with lowriser intake?
Approximate cost?
Looks way more "correct" than the K&N I'm using.
-
Yes sir, we've been running a 3" K&N on our car. I don't believe it will work with a MR intake unless you cut the rear brace out of the hood. Cost we're hoping to be right around $120, the 3" tall will need to be about $10 more expensive.
-
I’m most likely in for one then.
-
Put me down for a few. Nice work and thank you for going to the effort .
-
This effort is cool. I understand the value of the K&N but never cared for the look.
Thanks
-
I’m in for one maybe two.

Whats the height of the short one 2.25"?Does anyone know if the 3" will clear the 61-62 hood?
-
I’d be interested in purchasing a 2.25” one
-
Factory ones are right around 2-3/8". 3" tall should clear a factory hood as long as you're not running a medium riser intake. If its a factory low riser 2x4 or 3x2 I think you should be fine.

Doesn't our Galaxie trunk lids make for an excellent work table. Nice filters BTW.
-
I've ordered as well, delivery scheduled for Saturday.
-
Another happy customer. These are very well made, and thank you for jumping through all the hoops to make them available.
-
The best! Of coarse my paint isn't very nice so about every non heavy item end sup there for short time. On a side note im currently building a model truck of a Mack on the back of it right now lol for my Dad for fathers day!

Is the Tripower air filter the same?

the same

Tri power is a FA48 and is smallest, height wise, and the only one still available.
-
Thanks everybody for the interest, peoples feedback has made the endeavor worthwhile.

Well, I can confirm that the 3" filter will not fit under the hood in a '63 Galaxie with a factory 6v set up. No spacers under the carbs, just gaskets.
Anyone need a 3" filter lol?

Send it back and we can swap you for a 2-3/8" filter. I'm surprised that it doesn't fit.... I'll have to open Jay's intake comparo book tonight and see how a LR 2x4 manifold height compares to a LR 3x2. On our '63 the 3" clears just fine but its a 2x4 manifold.
-
We can save the cost of shipping if you want, Nathan. I'll order an extra 2 3/8" and swap you one for the 3" if you want?
-
I looked in Jay's book, looks to me that the 3x2 manifold is actually lower in the front than the 2x4. Same dimension in the rear of the manifold.
Where is the hood interfering with the air cleaner? I'm somewhat puzzled by it, ours clears by a fair margin.

Got my 3" air filter.
EXCELLENT looking filter.
Only trouble is.... it doesn't fit my repro 6V air cleaner top lid.
No fault of the filter.
This repro lid has a locating rib for the filter that won't let the filter sit flat on it.
I had the same problem with the K&N filter and the S&B filter. :(
I'm gonna do what I should have done when I first found this issue.
Mill the offending rib flat/flush with the lid.

Thanks Greg, sounds like a plan.

Basically everywhere.
Wingnuts mostly
It’s not just barely touching, it’s full contact.

10-4 on it...

When I received the filter it didn't quite fit in the opening of my hood as it was taller than the one it's replacing, no fault of the filter. I finally got around today to trimming the opening just a bit so that it would fit and now it's perfect. I'll be ordering a second back up this week.
Thanks Mike!
