Yesterday wife wanted to visit her tailor in Tornio Finland,
and i had to join her. So of we went nice sunny day -5 celsius
no snow yet . First a couple of hours at the tailor taking meassures
for a leather bolero and a wintercoat....Yeeejjjj interesting way
to spend a day, then of to Ikea in Haparanda on the Swedish side
of the river. Suuuper interesting, as i walking around there in booredom
pushing the shopingcart i hear an English speaking family.
They have a boy about 6-7 years old running around with a kids
shoppincart making engine and squeling tires sound.
The mother tell him to stop that and calm down to no effect
so she tell the dad to tell him to calm down.
That have slight more effect but not stops him completly
They come closer and when the boy is close i pull out from my isle
beside him.
And ask him, ya wana race me kid, down to the checkout and back, winner
gets a hotdog, and make enginesound
Kid looks in disbelif ,dad burst out laughing, and the mother DONT
Look amused at all ;D ;D ;D ;D wife trying hard to not laugh.
Kid give me a big smile as they walk away, probably will remember that for a long time

The thing is i bet the little rascal had beaten me ;D ;D
To my defence, i had blamed the wife for giving me a severe
wheight penalty loading down the shopping cart ??? ;D ;D ;D
I was way cooler sounding though, i had V8 sound he had more
lika a Japanese motorcycle sound
That had been a sight for the audiens, a 7 year old kid and a 60 year
old man racing shopingcarts down the store, making enginenoise :o :o :o;D ;D ;D

Yes i remember when i was that age everything could become a racecar. A shoppingcart
a whhelbarrow, littlesister babycarriage, i flipped that in a curve with littlesister in it.
Good thing the top was up and acted like a rollbar ;D ;D ;D

After Ikea i treathed the wife with a steakdinner att Haparanda Townhotel.
It was delisious
A Victorian era hotel restored to its former glory.
Once up on a time it was famous over the world.
It Was the hotspot for spies, smugglers and asorted riff raff during both worldwars
Lenin is said to have stayed there when they smuggled him back to Russia

Heo, you are enough reason, all by yourself, for me to come here often, even if I didn't already have a substantial interest in FE engines. The mental pictures you create with your stories, topped-off with your very interesting photos, quite definitely add an extra dimension to an already worthwhile place. ;)

I am shocked they actually have Ikea in Sweden, thought those were only over here. :P

:D :D :D :D The rif raf was called "Goulash barons" They got filty rich by selling
suplies to various armys, they got good contracts by bribes and various coruption
The Goulash baron is the name of the restaurant today ;D

Yes it is great nowadays. And the food and the vine was among the best i have tasted my whole life.
Wife did not manage to eat the whole steake so she took it in a doggiebag and fed the dogs when
we got home. one of the dogs was so exited that she bit wifes fingers wolfing the steak down
when i was young it was a bit rundown and we used to start
the evening in the hotel bar, I gues i have paid part of the renovation ;D
The babe on the stairs is my wife :)
Someone told me this Ikea is a evil organisation, trying to infiltrate the whole world to rob good mens car money
with the help of there wifes >:( ;D

You absolutely live in the nicest part of the world Heo. As a wee lad, my neighbor had a blown 289 Studebaker golden hawk. Every time he left home he got 4 gear rubber, so whenever I was making my motor noises, I always chirped all 4 gears. Drove my parents nuts.

Good for you that had a neighbour with a Golden hawk, 8) one of my favorit cars from the 50st
I just had a neighbour with a 2stroke SAAB, that scrambled the TV signal when he drove by.
And he came home from work alway during the childrens show on TV i hated that car
His father though had a -64 Malibu, Gold with red interior as a Taxi. but just a 6cyl fourdoor
He drove us to school a couple of days a week four kids in front and two kids in the backseat
Always sucking on breathmints probably was drunk or hangover ??? ???
Flodström that drove the schoolbus defenitly was drunk. always sucking on coughdrops smoking his pipe in the bus
One time he was so drunk that he took a wrong turn and got lost in the village :o. A kid asked where he was going,
then he got mad and trew all us kids out of the bus ;D ;D ;D ;D. We saw him riding up and down the streets with the bus

That is the proper color combo for a Morris Marina! I had a girlfriend in high school who actually had one (Austin Marina here in the U.S.). Good thing she was cute, because that car was bad.
Great stories Heo! It's good to be a kid at heart. Yes, you live in a really beautiful part of the world. It's on my bucket list to get over there sometime.
