Galaxie motor mounts revisited
« on: February 27, 2018, 07:51:51 PM »
A few weeks I posted seeking some advice on motor mounts for my NSS '64 Galaxie.  Again thanks to all that sent a reply.  I decided to go with modifying the stock mounts.  On the left mount I used countersunk 3.8" bolts as several people suggested.  I did the work at the local junior college where I take welding lessons.  The instructor asked me why I didn't weld plates on the right side too.  I told him I thought it would melt the rubber.  He said he could use pulsed TIG with lay wire technique and it would be fine.  He did it and it worked great there was.  There was a little smoke but the rubber is fine.  Here are some pictures of the finished mounts before I paint them.
