Non-FE Discussion Forum / Baby Cammer
« on: December 12, 2016, 03:26:44 PM »
This little guy is for my tow truck, to tow my FE to the track. ;)
This is what is called a 4.6 Romeo.
Once you take the heads off it looks like a small 427ish.
Fully skirted and cross bolted.
One could easily get hooked on spending money on these as well.
That's why I limit myself to the really expensive stuff. ;)
Not much, just RV cams, the big oil pump (go figure  ::)) pipes and will ditch the steel out of balance finger chopper on the front
and go to full electric.
I can hardly wait to hear the thing.  :)

I have owned this Fastback since the early 80's.
It was my daily at one point for a few years.
I still have a daily fastback so to speak. ;)
I have at least two complete FE drive lines in 4 speed.
And one in auto mode. ::)
The koolest would be the 427 Genisis block, with 4.250 arm, BBM heads, Ford TW
then a Jerico 4 Speed.
I will try and get a picture of both the Fairlane and the Fastback on the track
together in the next year or so. I have the junk I just need to get off my ass
and do it. :P

So things are good.

FE Technical Forum / A Vintage Jerico
« on: August 26, 2015, 05:19:44 PM »
This is a vintage Jerico.
Scot at Jerico said "that thing is so old I don't even have  a record of it". hmmm
It is a very early DR 4.
I don't really know much history on it but it must have sat around for a long time.
It shows only light usage.
Good drag gear set though.
1st 3.08
2nd 1.96
3rd 1.40
4th 1
18 spine input shaft.
I will disassemble and inspect and give it a good cleaning and use it.
And a vintage Long gate. 8)

« on: July 13, 2015, 01:40:34 PM »
Well I didn't win the car. >:(
The same guy who won the truck last year won the car again this year. Lucky Bastard!

It was a great show and the weather was hot!
This is a huge car show that goes on for 4 days if you do all the events.
Definitely a bucket list item if you like car shows.

There are so many cars cruising around day and night, it's Hot Rod heaven.

We went up Friday afternoon and stayed until supper time Sunday.
The Fairlane ran great all weekend and never even had to open the tool box.
Very happy with the durability of the redo on the car.

We had the pleasure of meeting Jim who owns that Black 64 Lane with dual and quad everything 427.
His car was a dick magnet all weekend. And ended up winning dick magnet. Well Done Jim!

FE Technical Forum / 1967 Fairlane XL Weight
« on: July 09, 2015, 08:32:59 PM »
I finally got the Fairlane on a scale.
A portly 3682 lbs. in full street trim with 1/2 a tank.
Plus my 14.5 stones, so not a light weight by any means.
Took it into Dartmouth cruise night for a test run. Pretty good turn out.
Couple of 100 cars for sure. Car's working good. Does not really like slow speed stuff though. ::)

We will be going to the Atlantic Nationals this weekend in Moncton N.B..
April Wine is playing the stage. Kool old band from my youth.
Driving the car. No trailer. 3 hour highway run.
This years prize is a 32 Highboy. Nice looking car from the pic.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Happy Canada Day!
« on: July 01, 2015, 07:00:06 AM »
It's always a good day for moi.
Most of the kids and all of my grandkids will be at the cottage.
I have 5 grandkids. 3 girls and 2 boys.

I also call it happy meat day. On the bbq will be steak, hammie's, doggies, sausage, ribs both kinds
bacon and any other meat by product that may get in my way.

Have a great day!

FE Technical Forum / Got air off the trailer!
« on: June 21, 2015, 07:51:30 PM »
The car ran perfect, the human needs a lot of work. :P
We only got 4 passes (weather was not on our side) but it did yank the left front off the ground and
that was the goal.
Best time was a high 12, there is a lot of practice needed to get a handle on the thing.

Getting Air!

FE Technical Forum / Road Test
« on: June 14, 2015, 04:10:56 PM »
Did a road test today. Drove it in to Porters Lake. It's about 16 miles on the old #7.
Car ran great, I'm about as happy as an old car guy can get.
The Jerico works prefect.
It's ready to race on the 20'th. Ye Haw!

Needs a wee drink.

No leaks. :P

Ya she's a smooth shifting box. ::)

The business end.

FE Technical Forum / Apparently changing shocks...
« on: June 10, 2015, 07:23:48 PM »
is a sport. Death or serious injury can result. ::)

The new shocks. :o
I normally advocate the best shocks you can afford. These are the best I can afford.
There are even better ones than these, but they are out of my league.

Here are a couple of things I do to springs. The locator on the spring and perch and clamp plate do not always
fit snug. I sleeve the bolt and nut to have a slight press and this holds the spring nice and square.
I have sheared a spring pin and the result was not good.

I painted the top of the pin before I took the picture, but you can just see the thin wall sleeve.
