What you just said, blew over brain,...whoosh...

I'm feeling better after a very long haul, so !I'm getting back to my build. I'm just writing here about this guys 600 HP.
Most all 428/462 are only around 550 HP. (I know,..only ?)

I want this engine specs, but with my stacked EFI and aluminum heads.
What are the cam specs ?

All depends on the block, but I seriously doubt a .080 over.  Now, any block CAN be bored, but whether the rings will seal and it will split is another story.  My bet is that your guy's .080 was a 390 block bored to 428 bore.  I am sure Blair checked Mike's build closely and it was a good block, he wouldn't mess around

As far as very general rules, an A scratch or CX scratch industrial block, highly unlikely, a C scratch, might go .050, might not.  I have never seen one with enough meat to go even close to .080

Sorry I said .080 in that line, I meant .040 like in the heading.

So .040 is the safe amount, after that you're stretching the limits ?
Too bad the FE can't go as big as the 460 blocks.

Even if you sonic test any FE, going over a .040 was a no no ?
I just read about a 428 build that he bored his at .080 over. Can that really be done ?

He said a while back that he's real busy for much of social, therefore he's not hear much.
But I'm needing to get a hold of him. If anyone here can, please let him know.

I've been a good boy and saved money to purchase the cam, lifters, pushrods, springs and valve train kit. And the timing gear/chain, probably from Doug.

Do you guys was to do some bench racing and pick the brands and specs ?
I'll get the list of my engine parts so far.

I don't think you're as ass Ross. Forgive if I did so. I'm open to of your knowledge, advise and opinions.

In regard to high lift short duration, isn't there a limit to lift rate or amount of lift per degree of crank rotation? Seems if taken to it's limit high lift short duration would limit RPM quite a lot.

You're Very impressive !
I like the,...''CFD,  Can't F'ing Decide'' lol...

I've been working on my engine on and off for three years, and I still,....can't decide on a hydraulic roller or a solid roller and specs !
I think ok,.I'll go with this company, type and specs, then the next day I read or hear something different, then I'm back to damn,....start over. lol.
I know that several guys here are rolling their eyes to the top of their brains thinking, how many times has Kevin talked about this ?   Just pick one, install and drive the bitch !

FE Technical Forum / Re: Power- Solid Roller vs Hydro Roller ?
« on: February 20, 2021, 11:48:43 PM »
In my case. I'm a guy wanting a drag engine, on the street, but we all know that's just not gonna happen with most people.
I built a 427 Cobra back in 2000, and bought a ready running mild 428FE. It broke the rocker shaft at number one cylinder. I decide to rebuild it and had
Comp Cams grind me a solid flat tappet, 550 lift, 252/260 @.050 cam. I did some mild porting on the steel FE heads. Being a 360 sprint car racer I was never happy with the engine, just not enough power even in a 427 Cobra.

I worked with a engine builder on a aluminum 427 side oiler block, boring & stocking it to 527 cid, with all well known assembly parts. He ended up steeling it all, so that was over 10k.

15 years later I bought a complete Dove engine. The cam is weak so I'm replacing it, the lifters, springs etc. Brent here knows the story.
I'm going back and fourth on a hydraulic roller or a solid roller. With my recent illness, among other health issues, this will be my last engine and may have to stop driving in five years or so. I need to get as much power as I can,... out of this engine and might use a solid roller cam to get there.  My intent here was just to ask about my subject, but this discussion relates to by cam type and specs. It's been a long time to save money and researching for the build and asking and learning as much as I can from several sources, as there's many ways to build a custom engine. I'd like to use pressurized solid rollers lifters, so they sound like they'll live on the street, unless you guys advise me to use hydraulic rollers ?

So, I'll be mainly driving on the street, but I'm always on the throttle in my Cobra, with up around 5,500 RPM or so. I drag the car a couple of times per season. I'll give you details tomorrow.

I'd like to discuss his high lift low duration.

Other than measuring the CFM of you heads to find out what your max lift should be, what else is needed ?
Duration ?
Size of the valves ?

If your port's are as big as they can be, does determine size even matter if you know the flow numbers ?
Shouldn't every engines intake and exhaust ports be as large as possible and match exactly to aid in the cams lift and duration ?
Does the type of fuel and octane change anything in the lift and duration ?

I came across a article and video's from an engine builder David Vizard talking about cams, springs, lifters, oil, additives, etc. From my small search I've found that some think he's a god on engine building. I watched one video so far, and although he sounds pretty conceded and likes to sell himself, he does sound like he knows what he's talking sbout.

And I'll say, I do not know him, work for him, run his seminars or think he's a God, so please don't jump on my back.

I'll try with your information, but when I called them a couple of years ago, they said to upgrade mine, would cost as much as a new one.
