FE Technical Forum / Dove Rollers
« on: August 02, 2013, 08:37:59 PM »
So I've got about 1000 Miles on this build and have broke 2 rocker arms within those miles, 1 being just last week and can only lead back to spring pressure.   These are standard 1" wide Dove rollers on 496lbs open springs.  Too much pressure for these I take it?  They seemed great for 1/4 mile runs at 6300rpm but broke while driving in town normal.  The last one was on the exhaust side causing the intake pushrod to bend also.   I've yet to get a new rocker or pushrod because I'm afraid another is going to break and give me more pain then a $30 rocker or pushrod.    Has anyone experienced extensive damage due to a rocker arm breaking?   I'd upgrade to the T&D or something better but those are big dollars!  Do the T&D even bolt onto an edelbrock head without changes?

FE Technical Forum / New engine for my 69 Mustang
« on: June 12, 2012, 01:06:50 AM »
Well I'm on here reading everyones builds and I think I got the itch to buy someything I really shouldn't have but I think I got a pretty good deal even if shipping takes the clothes off my back.   What should a build like this make hp/torque wise?  Would this be considered a good street/strip build?   Sounds pretty built to me but after reading about Jay's 526ci build I want one of those, But..  I sure as heck don't have that cash to throw on an engine.  Someday I hope.

The owner says it wasn't blueprinted but says its been balanced and normal machining procedures done from a reputable machine shop in his area.   Should I have any worry about this build?

Ultimate goal is 500+hp/tq and wouldn't mind if the tires were off the ground on take off!  Not sure if this can make that happen though.   I do have that 100 shot I still haven't used on my stock 428 with unknown performance cam.  My current 428fe just doesn't have enough power so I bought a whole new engine! LOL...   Well the way I saw it was I could barely get the parts and machine work done in Canada for this price so now I have an extra engine if I kill the new one in the "very distant future" I hope.   Or I could sell it and get some cash back that I shouldn't have spent!!!

FE Technical Forum / 428 Top end
« on: February 24, 2012, 11:36:57 PM »
Well I'm looking at upgrading my 428 to perform at its best and ran into this ad.  What would an engine builder look for when asking questions about these parts?  Dove SK Medium riser alum. heads and dove single plane intake. 2.19-1.76 stainless valves 11/32 stem, titanium retainers, comp springs flat tappet, 4150 intake. will pull of car when bought. Buyer pays shipping. contact 251-656-7753 8/7pm 3000.00 or best offer

I currently have basically an unkown bottom end, other then its being all rebuild I don't know detailed specs on what piston, cam ect was used.   Rods are C6AE so there still stock I Beams and bolts.   I believe originally the motor was build for street performance and reliability.   I now want street/strip performance so I would like to start with a set of heads/intake and drivetrain.

I'm a little determined to do as much work I can on my car but I'm no engine builder.  I've rebuild and upgraded my 69 mustang in pretty much every area except the internals of this motor.   My wallet is very light so I do keep my eyes open on used parts but not sure if used is a good idea?   I've been eye balling the Edelbrock X heads but those are as much as what this guys selling for a whole top end.  I don't believe these come with rockers though.

Private Classifieds / WANTED 3/8" Mechanical fuel pump
« on: February 20, 2012, 11:18:29 AM »
Looking for an upgrade to my 5/16 fuel pump.   I see new ones to be quite expenisive as most FE parts are.   I have no idea why most manufactures offer a 1/4" but only a couple 3/8".  So if you've got a spare sitting around that you want to sell, drop me a msg.
