I had to laugh, Heo, because you folks like to eat one of the stinkiest dishes on earth!

A careful study of failure will yield the ingredients for success.

;D ;D ;D But it have only been rotting for about 4-5 months ;)  And its a
lot of alcohol involved when we eat it (I'm no fan of it i live by the coast so
i can afford fresh fish :D)

Story goes that it was an ancestor to me Erik Ã…ngerman that invented it.
When he sold herring to the Army in the late 1400s early 1500s.
And was to cheap to salt them enough.
It almost ended with mutiny by the soldiers, And he was sentensed to
have Sursill ( Rotten herring) as his last name by the King  ;D

Not sure I'd want to try an MRE that used 70 year old technology. ???  I've eaten enough MRE's to know that I prefer dehydrated foods. Lots lighter and the food tastes better, which works best for my backpacking trips. Mountain House actually guarantees their dehydrated meals to retain their flavor for 30 years in the cans, up to 12+ in the packs. They'll actually last much longer than that.
