Joe, I bought a new F-150 extended cab 4X4 with 3.70 gears and the off road package back in April of 2011. I have about 60,000 miles on it now with 0 problems; it's been a great truck! It averages 16.8 MPG for around town and highway @ 85 mph. It has plenty of power to haul it's rated 11,500 lb. trailer load, but the mileage suffers when you're really working it. I'll probably get a new on in 2014 and will get another Eco Boost for sure.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family Jay! I hope the new year brings you success and low ET's!

Dang Ross; that sounds like one heck of a trip and quite a run of luck; all bad! Sorta sounds familiar; different PIA to deal with for sure; the wallet and body pains I sure can relate to.

Hang in there; it can't last forever and things will get better.....

I agree Drew and I wasn't getting down on then for building a LS Cobra; they're just building what their customer ordered.

They gave me a list of references which I'm checking out, but of course they probably wouldn't give me references they had problems with. Just trying to do my due diligence and wondered if anyone here had ever heard or seen anything or had any experienced with them.

Thanks for the response!

I've been talking to these guys about leasing them a part of a building I own. I visited their shop today and though I don't like seeing a Cobra replica with a LS under the hood, they seem to do a nice job and seem to really know what they're doing. Most of their Cobra cars have small block 351 Fords stroked to 427 with a Tremec and a Curry 8.8.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has had any dealings with these guys: http://skjcustoms.com

Thanks!

The rockers are junk; lots of guys tried them most have broken rockers to show for it. I dunno about the ignition parts. I tired a set of small block head studs and they seem OK. I've not heard of anyone who used and liked the rockers.

Looks great Ross! Any chance we could see how you got the exhaust past the transfer case and trans? I ended up with a mess I don't like with my 74 F100 4X4, but I need some ideas before I get started trying to fix it right.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Guess the tunnel port horsepower!

I'll guess 710 HP and 640 TQ.

That's based on what my MR 496 with 9.5 compression made; it made 630 HP, flat tappet cam, Tunnel Wedge with 2, 715 cfm hollies and Dove aluminum heads that flow around 330. I'm thinking the extra compression and tunnel port heads would make another 80 HP. But then do we know what the TP heads flow?

Thanks for all the reply and advise, it gives me some direction and ideas to try.

It could have been so much worse; no one was hurt and had it happened some other time or at night, people could easily have been killed. And, I did manage to get my 69 Bronco out, so it didn't get hurt. Mostly it's just a huge mess and big expenses; 5 garage doors, drywall, paint, floor coverings furniture etc. then there's the shop... I have one big welder that got wet; I washed it out as good as I can, but I haven't tried it yet to see if it's OK or not, the pile of parts is just endless; lots of new 64 Gal interior parts ruined and I'm sure some are just gone. Then there's the garage foundation; the back corner of the shop sunk 2 1/4". I dug up about 20-30' of the footings going both directions from the back corner; used three 20 ton jacks to jack the corner back up, then poured 4 yards of concrete grout under it and used a vibrator to hopefully get it under where it needed to be.

It's going to take a long time to get everything put back, but I'll git er done. Thanks all for the encouragement and condolences!

I had a major disaster back on Sept. 11 of all days. A retention dam broke above our home and we we got flooded in a major way; here's a youtube video of the flood hitting our home:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpE-IgiUifM&noredirect=1

Our neighbor across the street took it from the roof of his home; our house it the tan brick home where the flood water is hitting the garage doors dead on. It did a lot of damage and we have a lot to clean up and repair, but here's what I would like to ask:

The flood put about 3' of slimy muddy water through my shop and made a mess of my 70 Stang and ruined a lot of the parts I had collected for the 64 Galaxie I'm rebuilding and messed up even more of them.

The question I have for you guys is this: I have a lot of parts like a sideoiler block, some gear sets for toploaders, third member pumpkins etc. I cleaned them up by washing off all the mud and crap, but they all have some surface rust on them. I have such a mess here that it's going to take years to get it all cleaned up and put back together again, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to stop the rust damage until I can get to everything and get it cleaned up properly? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, it put the Galaxie frame and drive train in about 2' of muddy water, so it could be in the toploader and 9" rear. I don't think there's anything in the 496" FE as it didn't get up to the exhaust or intake ports, just got a little above the pan rails of the engine.

I'm not sure if this relates, but I had to use a .25" shorter than stock push rod with my Edelbrock heads and Dove rocker set up. The stock length push rods would contact the bottom of some of the rocker arms. With the .25" shorter push rods, the adjuster was far enough away from the bottom of the rocker that I had good clearance.

I'm running a Comp 294S cam and dumbell lifters.

Don't know if that has anything to do with what you're doing, but I sure would check that before I ordered push rods.

+1 on sell the story to Hot Rod! You and your crew are too kewl for words; I'm in awe of what you've accomplished!

And another +1 to give yourself a little break and start getting ready for next year; you would rule; no question about it!

What a downer.... Sheesh, what next?

Joe,

I had to check and make sure I still have the failed Comp XE 256H cam and lifters from my 302. I have the cam and all the lifters; the lobe that failed and it's lifter are easy to spot; LOL! Anyway, I would be happy to send them to you for the testing you're proposing. Please email or post your shipping address and I'll get them shipped to you next week.
