C-6 Tranny Kit
« on: September 04, 2014, 11:25:53 PM »
Looking for a rebuild kit for my C-6.  Nothing racy, just a heavy-duty "RV" type setup, but I'm having a problem finding much to pick from for anything except C-6's used behind small blocks or 335/385 engines.
Ideas?
Thanks,

You shouldn't be having any trouble, C6's for FE's were used behind millions of pickups. Internally, in general, they are all basically the same whether SB, FE, 460. It's the bellhousing pattern, cast into the case of course, that is different. There are minor differences between all of them as far as number of clutches and steels used and seals for things like the servo piston. The kits generally have extra seals. Extra clutch frictions can be purchased if the kit doesn't have enough. Where are you trying to purchase a kit from?

I've never purchased anything from them myself, but have seen people happy with Broader and they seem to know what a Ford is, you might want to try them.

D'oh!! Brain fart.  :o

Should be sleeping at 11:30 PM, not posting questions that don't make sense.  :-[
Of course, there are plenty of rebuild kits available for the C-6.

Move along, nothing to see here.   :-[

BTW - thanks for the link, tdc!!
