It would be interesting to try PSE's air system on an old 352 where if they fail you're not out an expensive engine . Solid idea way ahead of its time

Big cams like more Initial timing from what I see, my own 416 with 266/276 at .050 cam likes 18 to 20 initial , 36 total with Ebrock heads

Paul was passionate about the air spring , We were laughing hard at a swamp meet at the air spring and he quickly quit talking to who he was talking to and came over to us to defend the idea , Paul was a character

I was involved in a 5.0 hydroplane boat class in the early 90's, 302 Ford and 305 Chevy's were the norm , Class called for a for a GM 2GC carburetor and a stock passenger car hydraulic camshaft but everyone ran solids with a hydraulic cam as there was no rule against it , on the stock stuff back then it didn't hurt anything

FE Technical Forum / Re: BBM BLOCK OIL GALLEY NOT DRILLED
« on: July 29, 2022, 09:00:27 AM »
I dont have a BBM block , but would think for sure a call to them is warranted. Thats alot of money to be out to have to start drilling oil passages.

seems like normal stuff with an aftermarket anything,  check and recheck and don't assume anything

Out of curiosity, are there any octane boosters that actually work?  Something you could carry with you to throw in the tank if you were running on the edge with 94 octane and you were out of town and couldn't get "good gas?"

I have had very good performance with VP's Octanium octane booster
I see many good reviews about the Race Gas product.
Lots of folks swear by the Torco octane booster and have for years.
Might want to look into a water/meth system if you're running 12:1 on the street. I had a Snow system on my blown car and liked it very much.

Same as Tommy , VP Racing Madditive Octanium works and it works good , highly recommend , you can get leaded and unleaded

the reverse clutch is not working , a pressure gage is needed in the case on the rear reverse port to see if there's any pressure , if it has pressure most likely a clutch problem , if it has no pressure then it's a valve body problem ... Does the Manual valve feel normal shifting from park to 1st and all between ?

only advantage to the MSD and may or may not be a big one is the ability to change timing curves just by removing the cap

for a cruiser or drag car I try to get as much positive Caster you can get with making the wheel sit funny in the wheel well . with MII style you can only add so much positive Caster before effects the Camber setting but run as much as you can , if it's a tight road course car then you want negative Camber but everyone else needs more positive Caster and it should vary less than a .5 degree per side

Just imagine a 428SCJ, 429SCJ, or Boss 429 with a similar cam grind that the BBC used:

375 and 425hp/396, 402 and 427; 242/242 @ 0.050", 114/108, .520" gross lift.

L-88, 264/270 @0.050", 112/108, .560"/.580" gross lift;

LS-7(?)/ZL-1, 262/273 @0.050", 110/?, .560"/.600" gross lift

their image on the street would of been a whole lot better if they had, Chevy sure didn't jack around with tiny cams in a performance vehicle

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: Any glass men here
« on: June 13, 2022, 08:25:42 AM »
My 63 Fairlane was installed by an old guy in 1996 and he used the rope trick , all moldings must be installed in rubber prior to installation and most head liners tuck into the rubber gasket up top on the window , this guy had the window removed , trim installed and headliner tucked in roughly 20 minutes and I helped hold the glass no suction cups for final installation

the reason for the old guy back then was the upholstery shop forgot to install the window moldings when the did a headliner , not sure why they even took them out?

Could also be because Ford offered AC and power steering along with more streetable gear choices available? I'm pretty sure the Chevy L78 was not available with AC or power steering and was limited on what axle ratio's could be ordered with it

60
Ford and Chrysler both wussied out with performance stock cams but Chevy didn't and those pesky L78 396/375 hp ran good and there was a bunch of them
