Personally, I like tunnel-rams; back in the '70's had one on my BOSS302 with two 660's (of course
), and we generally attributed the popularity of the single four tops to the boat crowd; but I don't recommend the single four tops mounted on them. The problem is that fuel distribution will be horrible, with the center four cylinders receiving excessive sums and the front and back end cylinders will operate at significantly reduced quantities!
A couple of efforts have been executed over the decades in an effort to reduce this effect, mostly by raising the carburetor upward over a larger upper plenum and with a downward slopping top profile leading to the ends, but they still are only somewhat improved in this sense, but then open up other possible negative results.
This intake as presented by the O.P. is "cool old stuff" and my intention here is not to disparage his piece, I'm just pointing out concerns that one might in the future experience in it's usage; but be aware that most any, particularly the older it might be, we can now readily judge their faults, as none upon examination will prove "prefect", and it is just, as it was, back then.
Scott.
