I have a factory tach car. They factory tach cars are current sensing. You'll destroy it. I am running a Pertronix II which requires some wiring changes. I'll be glad to provide you with the information if needed.

Non-FE Discussion Forum / Re: Magnet in differential housing?
« on: December 05, 2021, 07:42:00 AM »
My 67 GT 500 has a magnet in the bottom of housing that is a donut shape. Being it's a pre-may 67 car the fill plug is in the back of the housing. I don't see how a magnetic fill plug would be of any value above the oil level.

I had a set. They are listed at 1.76. However, they didn't clear the baffle in my Le Mans cast aluminum valve covers. It prompted my change to roller rockers.

I found the gasket if you can verify it will work with the passenger adapter.

Thank you for posting that. The embossed would  be ideal.  It would help make up for any irregularities.

I used Steve Long Camshafts in Corona, Ca. Formerly Babe Erson Cams.  I changed blocks with the internals and dropped the lifter tray.
Steve had mentioned he ground the lobes differently and despite the lifter shake up and the installing the cam that had about 600 miles if I followed the new break in procedure and removed the inner springs, ran it and then re-install the inner I had about a 75% chance of the cam surviving.  Worked out perfectly.

FE Technical Forum / FE Adapter to block gasket Fel-pro number?
« on: December 02, 2021, 09:13:51 AM »
My factory oil filter adapter was damaged and I purchase the reproduction to replace it. The gasket provided with the adapter is not paper thin like the factory gasket. The gasket seems to be of decent quality and is clearanced  for the ports on the adapter. It just seems to weep. I have changed it twice now.
I was wondering if anyone had a Fel Pro number for the gasket.
I have about 70-80 PSI cold with 20-50.  25 Psi @ 900 idle and 60-65 PSI at cruise hot.
Do you recommend copper spray on the gasket?

Hands down the best one I've used. An absolute necessity when breaking in cams and re-installing the inner springs.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Side Rod Clearance Question
« on: November 21, 2021, 05:52:18 AM »
I haven't seen a set of rod bearings in the last ten years that have the notch in the bearing shell. I wouldn't think it would be relevant to failures?
I sold my Le Mans rods with the last build. They're excessively heavy, 60 years old and prone to bolt failure.  With the current cost of rods I wouldn't risk a build with the current expenses involved. I came in at .012 with the Eagle I beams.

FE Technical Forum / Re: Intake leaking oil back of motor
« on: November 21, 2021, 05:44:14 AM »
I had very slight leak on both sides in the rear.  I was able to seal them. Thus far three years later they're still sealed.
I cleaned the area up thoroughly with CRC BrakeKlean. I wiped the area and used Q-tips.  I let it dry. I used in ignition screwdriver with more Rightstuff and pressed it in the corners where it was leaking. I allowed it to dry over night. I trimmed the excess off with a razor blade.
I was stingy because I have more of the Concours look and I was trying to avoid a mess or the fact I used sealer Vs. cork. I won't make the same mistake twice.
Hopefully that helps.

I have a split pattern 232-242@ .50. I do want to convert to a roller. I just have to get something under .600 and 240@ .50 area.
Sorry for being a smart ass. I would have jumped on the cam had it met criteria. Thanks!

First of all we know why R12 was claimed to harm the environment. It was a lie. Secondly it's not outlawed in the US. You can sell it right on Ebay. I bought six pounds for my vehicle last month.  R12 is 20% colder than R134 conversion systems. If you leave any of the R12 compatible oil in the system it will destroy the Sanden conversion compressors and requires all new hoses.

Here I thought I spent more time on explanation that needed...LOL  That was very well said. No one wants to do their job if it requires going beyond minimum requirements and union protections make it difficult to get rid of the lazy and unproductive.
I am about as frustrated as anyone else, if not even more so. As millennials replace us it will only get worse. They are allergic to physical work.

Will this cam have 15 inches of vacuum at idle?  ;D
If it was just a step down I would have taken the cam. I have power brakes .
