66 Falcon

Does anyone know if an FE will fit in one of these?   I saw somewhere that they ran Trans Am as well. A "Friend" of mine just bought one

A guy in town had 69 and put a 390 from a mustang in it it bolted in with the mustang parts i think 66 is the same body.

I believe the 66 Falcon shared the same engine compartment as the Fairlane and Ranchero.  Joe-JDC

I had a '66 Falcon station wagon that I put a 428 into.  The engine compartment is the same and the '66 Fairlane.  Any of the '66-'69 Fairlane/Comet engine compartment stuff for the FE will work in the "66-'69 Falcons.

I would love to find another '66 Falcon that was decent shape to built into a drag car.

A tree fell on the wagon on News Years Eve Dec 31, 1978. The roof was crushed below the dash.  I got it jacked out but I never could get the windshield to fit properly or the doors to quite line up.

The 390 replaced the 428 that I scattered down the street at some point.  The 390 had 428 heads and the 428 PI cam.  Ran real hard.

I certaintly don't see why not. It fits nicely in my 1964 Ford Falcon Sprint stroked to 482. It does help to cut the shock towers and beef up the cars frame. The biggest help to me was to install a front (engine bay) roll cage to back and of course sub-frame connectors. Heidts front and back suspension system/four link.

On a 66 everything bolts in using Fairlane mounts. I had a 66 SportsCoupe and was going to find a wrecked Fairlane GT and put the 390, rad, buckets and console and even the hood louvers and make it all look like it was built that way. Never did though.

66-early 70 Falcon engine compartments have same measurements as the Fairlane 67-70.  You should be able to bolt Fairlane sheet metal on a Falcon nose.  Leaf spring centers are also shared in the back.  There's an old Hot Rod or Car Carcraft article in the back of one of my books that details a Falcon being upgraded with a 428, using engine, trans, motormounts, frame stand, rear end, etc from a Fairlane.
