After winning class at EMC, Jon told me he thought our MEL could make a lot more power with a different cam.. I said if he was up for it let's do it..
He sent me the dyno sheet today.. He speculated that 900 was possible.. I don't understand why he was so far off...

That is amazing! Not bad for 473 cubic inches of Vintage Iron. 1.87 hp/ci is serious territory for any engine. Is it going in the Wagon? Joe-JDC

Wow

Jon flowed the heads before he put the engine back together for testing
Intake: 380cfm... Exhaust: 300 @.575 lift
I probably will put this engine in my 57 Merc wagon, but I need to source a race prepped FE C-6. I currently have a C-6 from the 545 that was in the car
Jon was in a big hurry and did not send me a dyno sheet that showed where peak torque occurred.. He is at the PRI show and will be giving a talk on this engine on Tuesday

I thought you found a MEL C6 case. They have the planet eater look right?
-
Always the witty one Steve LOL.... Do you plan on dumping some shrimp cocktails into that Maw while in Indy?
The early MEL uses the FE bolt pattern..My block is from a 58 Edsel. Yes I do have a planet eater C6 but that goes on a 515 MEL based on the 67 462 block.

No PRI for me.I can get a FE case for you.Talking with Shep.tomorow.

That act of kindness would be rewarded with a case of the cheapest beer I can find.. I wonder if they still brew Rhinelander or Kingsbury

Wow! That is impressive flow. Jon knows his stuff and why the engine makes such impressive power. Very, very nice and congratulations for such a splendid job. Too both of you.
