« on: March 15, 2020, 05:36:55 PM »
This is what mine looks like. Titanium retainers that are smaller than the valve spring. I did not build this engine it came from the builder this way.
Seat  320# open 850#

I agree, the news needs to find something else to talk about! They have literally bred this into an epidemic. There have been so many more virus and bacterial infections traveling around that were probably more deadly and not a word other than someone with very bad health conditions passed away from. This is doing more damage than 9/11 ( other than the victims :( ) and nothing happened.
Sorry, for the people there and the race is canceled.... was always one of my favorite races of the year when I went.

Yes,just give me a little time. I have to move the car so I can get a jack under it. My garage is the typical 20 lbs of stuff in a 10 lb bag. :)

FE Technical Forum / Re: Oil Temperature?
« on: March 04, 2020, 11:20:39 AM »
A friend of mine had an ERA Cobra that had an FE in it. I remember him calling me that he thought the oil temp gauge was bad as it to so much longer to get heat into the oil than the water temp. The oil definitely takes longer get to a temperature than the cooling system. Just an observation not scientific.

Brian,

The line that is the top oil cooler line that goes to the front of the oil filter adaptor is 30 1/4"

Line from the bottom of the cooler to the rear of oil filter adaptor is 38 1/4"

The measurements are from end of line to end of line including the fittings.

Hope this helps you!!!

Any question let me know...…                      John

Doug,
I have an old set and new set of FE Harland Sharp rockers. Although the the groove is larger on the newer the hole is in the groove on both sets. I tried to post pictures but the site won’t accept them. I can send them directly to you if you want.

FE Technical Forum / Re: what brand of battery-------------
« on: February 07, 2020, 09:48:42 PM »
I can vouch for the Deka batteries! I would only get 1 1/2 years out of battery in my A/S Fairlane. The hard launches I think would get to it. Parts store would treat me right so I kept getting the same Delco battery. Last time  they switched to Deka so I put that in 9 1/2 years ago!!! it finally went south the end of this year.

FE Technical Forum / Re: New slicks, but which ones?
« on: January 31, 2020, 12:55:51 PM »
Doug,
A lot of good advice for you and you seem to have a good grasp of what to do. I agree with the front shock change as opposed to a straight 90/10 set up. As far as gear selection for the burnout you do what works for you. I am the same as bobb428. I tried 2nd gear and it will toast my clutch set up. Before I knew about the 3rd gear weakness of the Jerico I had done it for over 10 years.
You’ll get it figured out it just takes time.

Doug,
My experience is it depends on the mfg and the compound that is used. Hoosier with bias ply claims you don’t really need a long Smokey burnout. The tires are getting hot and as long as they are dry. I use third gear with a stick car but that is due to gearing I have. If it hooks and you get the 60’ times your happy with, don’t worry about the amount of tire smoke. Dragsters  barely haze the tires on their burnout as they don’t have front brakes and they hook just fine.
I’ve used Goodyear and Hoosier. I like the Hoosier’s a little better so far. Can’t remember the compound # I have but aren’t stiff sidewalls

Just something to look at if not wanting to go adjustable pressure plate. Don’t know anyone that has one.       CLUTCHTAMER.COM

Interesting concept

For the few times you are on a track you have a good set up. The 60 ft has a lot to do with track, rpm, tire pressure and clutch but you know that. I’ve had 4 different motors in my car and until last year the 60 ft times were all the same. They would change a little due to track conditions but until I figured out clutch pressures - still learning- ...
I went from 12’s, 11’s to 10’s and the sixty foot never really changed as I didn’t do much  to make it better. From the video 1st gear spins and second hits like a freight train hit you from behind. Your car is strong!
Enjoy it as it is, it will be fun!

Jim,
Link works!  Maybe try 13# in the slicks and see if that helps or I can’t remember if your clutch is adjustable  needs to be lighter as it spun a fair amount on launch. Sorry the motor has to come out :(
