Does anyone have the measurements from the front of the trans (face of bellhousing) to the shifter handle? 66-67 Fairlane GT. I need to know for a new shifter and may set it back farther with a straight stick. Thank you

Are you asking about a Toploader or a 5 speed? Do you have a console in the car?

Stock shifter box and lever? I have a 67 GT toploader on a bench that I can bolt up a Mr Gasket shifter to and take measurements.
I also have the stock shifter box but no shift lever/stalk/stick (not sure what the correct term is...)

I was asking about a Toploader for a reference point but have a G-force GF4A going in the car. It’s going back for a gear ratio change and they’re gonna set it up with a shifter (H pattern)when it’s there but Leonard asked me for a measurement on how far I want it back. I sold the Toploader already and the engine is out of the car so I have nothing to reference. I removed the console and it’s not going back in. I know I will have to modify the shifter hump and that’s no big deal. Thanks

Just using a regular steel tape I come up with 17 1/2" from the transmisson mounting face to the center pivot of the Mr Gasket shifter.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill.

I have a Hurst Comp. Plus I can measure this weekend if you want. Mine still fits the factory console, but I know you aren't worried about that.
-
Yes, any measurements are appreciated. Although the Long H-pattern would be closer in comparison to the Hurst super shifter I believe.

I have a Comp. Plus and a Super Shifter I could measure.

Super shifter should be pretty close. . Did you ever get to use it in the car?
Nice car! Mine is also nightmist blue

Thanks! I haven't used the Super Shifter in my car. It's in my dad's '67. Right now I am working on putting a pro-shifted TL in with the Comp. Plus shifter so I can keep my console. Want it to look somewhat stock. Here's a pic of mock-up.

Wow. Never really thought straight rods with rod ends would work with a comp plus. Let us know how it works out when you get it in the car.

Sorry, I got really side-tracked today with a project and forgot to measure the shifter distance for ya. I can post here or start another thread so I don't step on this one about modifying/making the shift linkage. It works fine shifting on the floor, lol. I can tell you it is impossible to put a straight rod on the reverse lever, unless maybe you flip the arm upside down on the trans fork pivot. Then reverse will be over and down. I like going up into reverse. In the car will be the real test.....

Took a look today. Comp. Plus measured 17 5/8" to center pivot on shifter and best I could eyeball for the Super Shifter under the car was about 19 1/4"- 19 3/8". Hope this helps.

That works. Thanks!
