A gentleman named George Vega did. He had some pictures of it on the old FE Forum. I don't know if he is a member here.

George is a member here. He did a great job on his fastback conversion, and I'm sure he can answer any questions you have. Maybe try a search for his name and send him a PM?

Here is a link to the final article on a conversion by one of the magazines.
http://www.mustangandfords.com/project-vehicles/mdmp-0908-1968-mustang-coupe-to-fastback-project
I couldn’t find the actual articles, but do remember them having lots of pictures. Seems like it was spread out over several issues. I don’t know if those articles would have the details your looking for.....I do remember lots of pictures.

I was thinking about the same article. Mark Houlahan was involved in that project, so it was well done as I recall. I'd question the cost vs buying a fast back body shell. Unless you can find a clean green house off a fastback in a wrecking yard, junk fastbacks bring $$$$. You could have $6K in the project and only have a rusty hulk sitting in the driveway that you're going to wreck down to near zero value.

i have looked around and found there is more than 1 way to do this.the video in this article shows a lot more cutting out than needed.my coupe is rust free and had modifications that i wanted to keep,so there will be some update on my project in a few weeks.

If you have the roof, rearfenders, trunk it must be just a matter of
drilling out a lot of spotwelds and spotweld the back together (kind of)
I saw the oposot performed in the late 60s on a crashed fastback
converted to a Coupe. I guess beacuse a fastback roof was har to find
in Sweden

Sounds good on paper....till you have to find a fastback rear interior/folding rear seat...Not so simple....Then you have to use repo rear window trim as fastback stuff is pretty much unobtanium.Same for the stainless that holds the upper weatherstrip in.It goes on and on....Yes there are companys doing it...

yes, theres much more to buy to complete the conversion.for now,i have a lot of other work to do before i get to paint.so theres another expense.this will be a street strip race car with a big block,so it wont get a complete rear seat area.just minimal panels and carpet.
the real reason i did this,is i cant pay $20-$30k for a rust bucket fastback to build a hot rod out of.i have had the car a long time, and either i sell as a coupe, or do the fastback deal and build the car i want!
for some reason i cant add pictures.but here is a link to the forum where it shows how its done.
