428 Cobra Jet on Nitrous

If you've ever wondered what an engine with a nitrous hit looks like on the dyno, the graph at right should give you a good idea. This is the same mild 428 Cobra Jet engine shown in the previous exhaust comparison graphs, fitted with a 125 horsepower NOS plate-type nitrous system. The initial nitrous hit gives a 150 horsepower increase, and a torque increase of around 170 lb-ft. This tapers down to around 100 horsepower at the upper RPM range. That big boost right after pressing the button is pretty dramatic when the engine is installed in the car, and you're guaranteed to break the tires loose on the street if you hit the button at lower speeds.
